Influence of Rock Wettability on THF Hydrate Saturation and Distribution in Sandstones

چکیده
Natural gas trapped in hydrate deposits is a potentially enormous source of energy which can principle be extracted from the underground reservoir structures. These reserves also catastrophically release very large quantities greenhouse gases to atmosphere. One key parameter well known strongly influence fluid distribution, saturation, and production rock wettability. However, effect wettability on sediments has not been investigated yet. We thus used nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry measure relaxation times (T2 T1) corresponding surface relaxivity tetrahydrofuran during formation dissociation water- oil-wet Bentheimer sandstones. measured NMR porosities saturations at different temperatures formation/dissociation for both water-wet Significantly higher saturation was observed sandstone (when compared sandstone) all stages dissociation. Furthermore, T2 spectra moved lower domain (before formation) fast (after generally had range due water affinity associated faster demagnetization molecules. results demonstrate that low-field quantify observe behavior geologic sediments. This fundamental information aids development extraction reservoirs assessment potential emissions such into

Mapping fluid distributions in 3D at the pore scale: Quantifying the influence of wettability and saturation history on rock resistivity
Complexities in pore scale structure, rock-fluid and fluid-fluid interactions have a profound effect on the estimation of reserves, reservoir recovery and productivity in reservoir core material. These complexities determine the pore scale distribution of fluids within the pore space, which, in turn, determine the petrophysical response of the rock. A very important example is the estimation of...
متن کاملcritical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language
since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

The knowledge of the area of interfaces between phases is important to understand and quantify many flow and transport processes in porous media. In this work, we apply the interfacial tracer technique to study the dependence of fluid-fluid interfacial area on saturation and wettability. The interfacial area between the wetting and the nonwetting phases (brine and decane) in unconsolidated poro...

Foam flooding (or injection of foam) is a common technology to enhance oil recovery. Although the effects of permeability on foam flooding were well studied in many laboratory experiments, little research has been focused on the specificity of low permeability. In this paper, a series of constant-quality nitrogen foam flow experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of permeability on...
